DIY Baby Wipes

With our first baby coming this December I have been looking for the best and healthiest alternatives out there. We have already switched over to Green Cleaners that are non-toxic over a year and a half ago, we are looking into cloth diapers and I came across this amazing natural DIY Baby Wipe Recipe that I just had to share with all you mama's out there!

Mama’s DIY Baby Wipes Recipe

1.5-2 cups of water 1/8 cup of Renew Intensive Skin Therapy 1 tbsp Renew Bath Oil 1 tsp Sol-U-Mel Lemon Blossom 6 drops Melaleuca Oil T36-C5 (aka Tea Tree Oil) 1/2 Roll of Heavy Duty Paper Towel – I use Sponge Towels Ultra Select a size

First:

Take a great big roll of paper towel and a straight blade big sharp knife, and carefully cut the roll in half. NEVER use a serrated bread knife….it doesn’t do so well on perforated paper ;)

Second:

Place the half paper towel roll cut side down in a ziploc bag. In the picture here I used a bag that the wipes from the store came in. Now I use an extra large ziploc bag, double my recipe and put both halves of the paper towel roll side by side cut sides down. The cut side goes down so the solution absorbs more easily into the paper towels. Don’t worry about the cardboard middle, we’ll get to that at the end!

Next:

In a medium to large bowl, mix all the ingredients left in the recipe with a whisk until well blended. Pour the solution down the middle of the cardboard roll in the centre. Once all the solution is in the bag, zip it shut for about 10-15 minutes.

Finally:

Once the top of your paper towel roll is damp, gently grab the centre cardboard roll, which should now be damp and slightly parted from the paper. Now all you do is pull up and it unrolls and exits all on its own! Easy peasy! You are done! Make sure you keep the bag zipped closed or the cloths will not stay damp, and when you are ready to use one, just pull from the centre. VOILA!

There you have it! Simple, frugal and safe wipes for your baby’s bum, as well as any other body part that needs a good wipe :)

If you want to take it a step further, use baby face cloths for reusable baby wipes!
